AUSTINTexas , June 30, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) today announced the nominees for its coveted Texas Restaurant Awards, spotlighting some of the state’s most exciting hospitality leaders. The winners will be revealed at the 2022 Texas Restaurant Awards ceremony, scheduled for Sunday July 10, 2022. Planned celebration kicks off Texas Restaurant Foundation annual meeting Lone star shot at the Texas Restaurant Show (formerly TRA Marketplace), which takes place July 9-11, 2022at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas, TX.

RISING STAR AWARD

This award recognizes the hard work required to open a restaurant. This person or concept is promising with ambitious goals and the courage to achieve them.

PRICE FROM THE DEEP OF THE HEART

Texas is huge and filled with incredible talent. This award is designed to highlight successful and creative restaurateurs and chefs whose concepts are not located in one of the four major metropolitan areas (Houstondallas, San AntonioWhere Austin).

EXCEPTIONAL RESTAURANT AWARD

Each year, restaurateurs across the state are honored for their work in their communities, their leadership and their entrepreneurial spirit. The finalists for this award come from the group of winners of the Outstanding Restaurateur Awards, chosen by the 23 individual chapters that make up the Texas Restaurant Association.

HALL OF HONOR

A longstanding tradition of the Texas Restaurant Association, exceptional individuals are inducted into the Hall of Honor each year to recognize their significant contribution to the Texas the restaurant industry and the association. This honor is the highest the Association can bestow. To qualify, applicants must have a minimum of 15 years of TRA membership and exemplify superior business ethics.

CHIEF TIM KELY EDUCATOR EXCELLENCE AWARD

Texas ProStart instructors who demonstrate leadership and excellence in culinary education are eligible for the annual Educator Excellence Award. Teachers should be advocates for the Texas ProStart program and dedicated to helping students succeed. Awarded to educators who have made a significant contribution in the classroom and beyond.

THE CARMELO MAURO PRIZE – THE SPIRIT OF GENEROSITY

The Carmelo Mauro Award is an annual recognition, bestowed by the Texas Restaurant Foundation (TRF), for the outstanding achievements of an individual philanthropist who has demonstrated the highest ethical standards, commitment, dedication and talent to the future of the restaurant and foodservice industry.
